Wine Review: This medium straw colored Gruner Veltliner from Dr. Konstantin Frank is a very good value. It opens with a white grapefruit and golden delicious apple bouquet with hints of lime zest and dried herbs. On the palate, this wine is light bodied with zesty acidity. The mouthfeel is slightly rounded. The flavor profile is a mineral influenced Anjou pear with notes of lemon-lime and saline. We also picked up some hints of coconut towards the end. The finish is dry and its flavors and acidity fade away nicely. This refreshing Gruner would pair nicely with oysters or Thai noodles with spicy peanut sauce. Enjoy – Ken & Joe
Winemaker Notes: Herbaceous on the nose with grassy notes paired with candied lemon zest, bright citrus, crisp red apple, light stone fruit and a dominate undertone of slate and mineral aromas. The mouthfeel is rounder and softer than the previous vintage offering a wine with more body suitable to pairing with heavier dishes. Pair with grilled asparagus, sautéed scallops, sushi or Thai cuisine.
