Wine Review: This deep purple colored Merlot from Doubleback opens with a blackberry and red beet bouquet with hints of cinnamon, orange peel and lavender. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, smooth, fresh, and graceful. The flavor profile is black plum and cedar blend with notes of stone dust and mulberry. We also detected some hints of nutmeg, black pepper, and black cherry. The finish is dry, and its moderate well-managed polished tannins are nicely sustained. The Tasting Panel would pair this Merlot with a filet mignon. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Such a beautiful vintage for Merlot as the lateness of the season extended this early ripening variety. Deep ruby, classic aromas of plum and fresh blueberries alongside of raspberry, freshly pulled espresso, and hints of vanilla and a curious orange hint. Rich, round on the palate, dense and silk-like tannins that have a glycerol length to the finish that is evocative and leaves you longing for more. This is such an underrated variety when planted in the right places! All estate grown. Decant now and drink through 2042.
