Wine Review: This very dark purple colored wine from Portugal opens with a blackberry and black raspberry bouquet with a hint of smoked beef stick. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced, round and fruit forward. The flavor profile is a juicy blackberry and red plum blend with nicely integrated old oak. I also detected notes of minerality, black tea, black olive and a touch of cinnamon. The finish is dry and its moderate well-managed tannins show nice length. I would decant this wine briefly and serve it with a New York strip steak. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: This wine, vinified with selected grapes from old vines. Slowly matured in new French oak barrels for one year, the wine shows a dark ruby color and a rich, wild fruit aroma, connecting with mint and spices. The flavor is intense and round, with silky tannins and a persistent finish.
