Wine Review: This dark red Cabernet Franc from Chinon opens musty new leather and black cherry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced and juicy. The flavor profile is a mild oak and cherry blend with notes of minerality. I also detected hints of black licorice or black pepper. The finish is dry and its dusty tannins are nicely extended. This Cab Franc is Old World styled. I would decant it. As it really smooths out with aeration. Then I would pair it with a beef bourguignon. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Named for the riverboats nearby, Gabare charms with aromatic notes of dark berries, blackcurrant and mint that carry through on a perfectly balanced palate. Hints of earth and spice are unveiled along with effortlessly integrated, refined tannins that round out this lengthy, easy drinking Chinon.
