Wine Review: This very dark garnet colored Syrah from Crozes-Hermitage opens with a black raspberry, black licorice, and cedar bouquet with hints of cured meat. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The flavor profile is a cedar and spiced black plum blend with notes of black pepper and black raspberry. I also detected hints of cured beef, stony minerality and oolong tea. The finish is dry and flavor, acidity, and mild tannins drift away nicely. This wine benefits from some aeration. I would pair it with barbecue beef brisket. Enjoy - Ken.
Winemaker Notes: The Crozes-Hermitage "Cuvée L" was born in 1999 with the arrival of the first eggs. Mainly composed of young vines, it is the ultimate pleasure cuvée, a wine that Laurent wanted to be accessible to all. Freshness, fruitiness and deliciousness are the hallmarks of this wine in each vintage.
