Wine Review: This ruby colored Syrah from South Africa is a good value. It opens with a black raspberry and smoky oak bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, round and easy to drink. The flavor profile is a mineral influenced plum with notes of smoky oak and blackberries. I also detected some hints of black pepper. The finish is dry and its tannins build up nicely. This Syrah will be a crowd pleaser and will also pair well with grilled steak tips. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Aromas of rich, berry fruit with ripe, red plum and hints of white pepper entice further reflection. With a deep, purple core, the palate reveals some floral notes in the background (violets, lavender and spring blossoms). Full in the mouth, with tremendous youthful vigor, there are layers of berry fruit with developing spices of pepper, cinnamon, clove and vanilla. Gentle oak integration shows and supports the elegance and roundness of the wine.
