Wine Review: This pitch black colored wine blend from South Africa opens with a boysenberry and black cherry bouquet with a faint hint of oak in the background. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, and fruit forward. The flavor profile is a blackberry and red currant blend, laced with olive, minerality and black licorice. I also detected hints of red plum and oak. The finish is dry and is nicely prolonged. This wine would pair well with a mushroom burger. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The DeMorgenzon Maestro Red is a classic Bordeaux styled blend. The name Maestro honors the Baroque music piped throughout the vineyards and in the cellar at DeMorgenzon. This wine displays notes of cassis with rich, red fruit, dried herbs, perfume and plums on the nose. The palate is soft and silky with integrated flavors of cigar box and black fruit.
