Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Cabernet Franc from Davis Estates opens with boysenberry, black cherry, and red licorice bouquet with hints of gentle spice and espresso. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round and savory with some nice tension. The flavor profile is gentle black currant and cedar blend with notes of graphite, teaberry, and black cherry. We also detected hints of red licorice, espresso, and black pepper. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity and integrated moderate tannins are nicely sustained. The Tasting Panel would pair this Cabernet Franc with roasted duck, burnt ends or even black forest cake. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: The 2019 Cabernet Franc has a beautiful deep ruby hue, with a shine reminiscent of ripe dark cherries. Aromas of pomegranate and raspberry pop out of the glass, chased by nuanced notes of baking spice, pie crust, cinnamon, clove and even sage! Intense flavors of raspberry truffle and dusty cocoa nibs are cradled in the same sweet herbs found in the nose. Delicate, but powerful, tannins support the flavors through a delightfully wandering finish.
