Wine Review: I was impressed with this value priced, crowd pleasing Rose. It is pale pink grapefruit colored and made primarily from Grenache and Barbera with some Pinot Grigio, Tempranillo and Zinfandel mixed in as well. It opens with a tropical citrus fruit bouquet that includes pineapple and some hints of coconut. Soft, smooth, crisp and refreshing define the palate which includes citrus, apricots and light pear. Like the bouquet, I also detected hints of coconut. Though not complex, this Rose is nicely balanced from start to finish. The finish was dry, refreshing and crisp. A great summer sipper. I recommend drinking this Rose on the beach while watching the sunset. Plan ahead and bring dinner. I suggest a lobster roll or sushi! - Joe
Winemaker Notes: Don't let the pale pink fool you, this wine's only blushing from all the attention. Most bottles of Rose are imported or created as small batch offerings, that means a premium price tag. Fortunately, Dark Horse winemaker, Beth Liston, decided to take summer by the grapes and create a fruit-forward, Provence-style Rose that pairs perfectly with sunshine and backyard budgets.
