Wine Review: This opaque and dark purple colored Shiraz opens with a fragrant blackberry bouquet with hints of pencil shavings, menthol, and vanilla oak. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced, and rich. The flavor profile is an extracted blackberry with notes of anise. We also detected hints of oak, minerality, and spice. The finish is quite dry and its dusty tannins are very sticky. The panel suggested pairing this wine with a Bison burger or a ribeye with blue cheese. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: A deep inky-purple color and sumptuous aromas of black fruits, exotic spices and earth introduce the 2009 Signature Shiraz as a purely seductive and profoundly unique offering. More serious than prior vintages, this wines dense and texturally complex nature is reminiscent of a young, ripe Cote-Rotie — offering up flavors of black licorice, blueberry and earthy-sumac spice alongside camphor and bittersweet cocoa. The noble tannins are ripe, rich and granular, promising poise and complexity over time. A long, persistent finish unveils enticing notes of dried orange peel, pain grille and white pepper.
