Wine Review: This monster wine is opaque and very dark purple colored. It opens with an extracted ripe blackberry bouquet with a hint of plum. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, rich and fruit forward. The flavor profile is a very extracted spicy blackberry with notes of black licorice and black pepper. I also detected some hidden oak behind the fruit and a little plum. The finish is dry and its fruit flavors and moderate tannins are sticky and linger for quite a while. This bad boy is a very young wine and will serve you best if you decant it in the near term. I would sip it by the fireplace this winter on a cold winter night. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Earthy aromas of dried orange peel, oolong tea and brown sugar mingle with plush blackberry, expressing the ideal measure of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon embodied by 2008 Duel. Cinnamon and boysenberry preserves punctuate the supple core of bittersweet chocolate and ground espresso while the finish suggests subtle black pepper, sandalwood and spiced chai.
