Wine Review: This slightly opaque and dark ruby colored Cabernet Franc based wine from DAOU opens with a mild blackberry and graphite bouquet with hints of black currant, leather, dried herbs, and peony. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, silky smooth, and fresh. The flavor profile is blackberry and graphite blend with notes of black currant and cedar. We also detected hints of black plum and mild black tea. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and managed dusty tannins are nicely extended. The Tasting Panel would pair this red blend with a New York strip steak. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: The 2022 Mayote presents a dark garnet-purple hue in the glass. The aroma profile is loaded with blueberry, dark cherry, mocha, and graphite. As the wine opens up in the glass, accents of cinnamon, nutmeg and sage emerge on the nose. The palate is a medley of fresh berries augmented by notes of chocolate-covered strawberries and subtle minerality. Bright tannins and fresh textures add lift to a deep, velvety finish.
