Wine Review: This midnight purple colored Malbec based blend from DAOU opens with a ripe blackberry and black raspberry bouquet with hints of violets and licorice. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced and smooth. The flavor profile is a candied violets and concentrated blackberry blend with notes of cedar, stewed black plum, and tar. We also detected some hints of strong black coffee, graphite, and cilantro. The finish is dry, and its chalky tannins and flavors linger nicely. The Tasting Panel would pair this red blend with a New York strip steak or with braised short ribs. Enjoy – KWGTP
