Wine Review: This very deep ruby colored Cabernet Franc opens with a red bell pepper, maraschino cherry and blackberry bouquet with hints of dark chocolate and coffee. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, smooth, soft, and refined. The flavor profile is a gentle blackberry and mild licorice blend with notes of stone dust. We also detected hints of subtle herbs and white pepper. The finish is dry and its fine tannins build-up and linger nicely. The Tasting Panel would pair this Cab Franc with filet mignon. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: The 2020 DAOU Estate Cabernet Franc shows how this classic Bordeaux variety excels on DAOU Mountain, where our calcareous-clay soils are reminiscent of Bordeaux’s Right Bank. An alluring nose of blackberry, currant, and crème de cassis is underscored by sweet cocoa, sage, pencil shavings and a touch of clove. Subtle notes of raspberry and candy apple add lift to the aroma profile. A luscious, silky mouthfeel delivers flavors of kirsch, pomegranate, wild cherry, and cranberry with nuances of dark chocolate, licorice, and allspice. Exceptional balance results in a smooth, lengthy finish with integrated tannins and trailing impressions of juicy plum and raspberry.
