Wine Review: This deep gold colored Chardonnay from DAOU opens with a ripe pineapple and Bartlett pear bouquet with hints of banana, butter and oak. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied, balanced, soft and creamy. The flavor profile is similar to the nose featuring a pineapple and Bartlett pear blend with notes of mild butterscotch and gentle oak. We also detected some hints of banana and chalky minerality. The finish is dry and drifts away nicely. The Panel would pair this food friendly Chardonnay with chicken tortellini with a light cream and butter sauce. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: This pure, elegant wine shows what is possible from Chardonnay grown at select coastal sites in Paso Robles. It offers inviting aromas of Bosc pear, pineapple and guava graced with hints of hibiscus flower, white peach and allspice. Notes of honeysuckle and vanilla complement fragrances of tropical fruit and warm toast. The palate is lush and silky, with mouth filling flavors of sweet honeydew melon, mango, pineapple and vanilla crème brûlée. Complementary flavors of citrus and nectarine are accented by suggestions of hazelnut and toasted almonds throughout an amazingly long, supple finish.
