Wine Review: This opaque and dark purple colored big boy wine is very good. It opens with black olive and wet stone bouquet hints of blackberry, blueberry and oak. On the plate, this wine is medium plus bodied with plus acidity. The flavor profile is plum and blackberry blend with notes of black cherry, dark chocolate and blueberry. We also detected some hints black tea and oak. The finish is dry and its moderate grippy and dusty tannins linger and last for quite a while. The Panel suggested pairing this wine with a juicy bacon burger or a Kona encrusted steak. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: The 2018 Bodyguard presents fragrant fruit aromas of blackberry, raspberry, currant and crème de cassis. Notes of cocoa, coffee, dark chocolate, licorice and sweet pipe tobacco are rounded out with whispers of truffle, toffee, mocha and menthol. A juicy, fleshy palate offers bright, generous flavors of cherry, cranberry, strawberry and blueberry accented with black raspberry and tamarind—all supported by underlying accents of dusty leather, pencil shavings, cigar box and crushed herbs. An elegantly styled and beautifully structured finish reverberates with focused energy, vibrant berry fruit and ripe, polished tannins.
