Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Cabernet opens with a black currant and blackberry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, and fruit forward. The flavor profile is a spicy black currant with notes of black pepper and smoky oak. The finish is rather dry and its dusty tannins are substantial and last for quite some time. The panel felt this wine needs some fat and they suggested that you pair it with a ribeye or a grilled veal chop with a mushroom sauce. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Our D. R. II is growing up, now in its fifth vintage. This creation is the offspring of our Moose Valley Vineyard and Walther River Block. The heritage is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon that shows deep, expressive aromas of raspberry, mocha, cinnamon and hot stones. Not quite as sleek and elegant as its parents, this youngster still hits the palate with a blast of rich fruit and well-integrated tannin, yet stays flavorful through the long, blossoming finish, ending with a splash of chocolate and black cherry.
