Wine Review: This midnight purple colored Cabernet Sauvignon from Crossbarn opens with a fragrant blackberry and currant bouquet with hints of black licorice and violets. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The flavor profile is similar to the nose featuring blackberry and red currant with notes of black licorice and stony minerality. There are also hints of astringent steeped black tea that linger towards the finish. The finish also displays some drying and dusty tannins. I would decant this wine for a while and pair it with juicy Kobe sliders. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Opaque, brilliant garnet in the glass, the 2020 vintage's select Sonoma County vineyard sites lend balance and unique savory elements that set this wine apart. Dynamic aromas of elderberry, blackberry, Bing cherry, and fresh mint emerge, giving way to focused flavors of black currant, cassis, and dried herbs. The plush mouthfeel, laced with well-integrated tannins, leads into a long, mouthwatering finish.
