Wine Review: This ruby colored Pinot Noir from the Sonoma Coast opens with a plum and blackberry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with integrated medium acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, quite round, and nicely coats your mouth. The flavor profile is a fruit forward blend of juicy red plum and red licorice with notes of black pepper, blackberry, and orange zest. I also detected hints of cedar and dried red cherries. The finish drifts away nicely. This Pinot will be liked by many. I would pair it with a cedar planked salmon with a Pinot Noir-berry sauce. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Sourced from cool climate vineyards along the Sonoma Coast, which saw a relatively even growing season, the 2020 Crossbarn Pinot Noir shows deep ruby in the glass with inviting aromas of pomegranate, black cherry, and bay leaf with a touch of violet. On the palate, juicy notes of fresh raspberry compote mingle with tart cranberry and a touch of forest floor, with a hint of salinity that speaks to its coastal origins complementing a lifting acidity and refreshing finish.
