Wine Review: This Pinot from Cristom is one of the top Pinots that I have covered from the 2007 Oregon vintage. It opens with a mild black raspberry bouquet with a hint of smoky oak. On the palate, this wine is medium to full bodied, balanced, and smooth. The flavor profile is a delicious black raspberry with notes of very pleasant and nicely integrated oak. There was also a hint of pomegranate detected as well. The finish is dry and its mild fine tannins linger nicely. This yummy Pinot would be a perfect match with a seasoned pork tenderloin. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Tasted with a year of bottle age. Louise is the surprise of the vintage leading with a more round and softer side than usual. We found creamy-mocha notes on the bouquet comingling with dark red fruits that were reminiscent of fresh mulberries. This wine offers a plush ride on the palate with abundant red licorice fruit. The wine was so smooth on the palate that we found ourselves combining rouge and velvet to form the new descriptor, Velouge.
