Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Merlot from the Monticello Vineyards opens with a kirsch bouquet with hints of caramel and some port like qualities. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, slightly acidic and juicy. The flavor profile is a black raspberry and chocolate covered black cherry blend with notes of oak and stony minerality. We also detected some hints of spice. The finish is dry and its sticky tannins and flavors show good length. The Panel did detect a little heat in the finish as well. Overall this is a big-styled Merlot that would pair nicely with chocolate covered strawberries or with a cigar by the firepit. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: This wine offers bright red cherry and raspberry aromas, accompanied by dried floral tones intertwined with hints of mocha, vanilla, and cola. On the palate, I find the wine supple and invigorating with a wonderful round midpalate that is well-balanced on a beam of acidity. The framework of gentle tannins leads into a lingering finish that is both full and bright.
