Wine Review: This midnight purple colored red blend from Caymus opens with a musty black cherry and boysenberry bouquet with hints of gentle oak, hot cocoa, and black licorice. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with integrated medium acidity. The mouthfeel is smooth, and it has the rich style that this producer consistently delivers. The flavor profile is black cherry and milk chocolate blend with notes of juicy blueberry and oak. We also detected hints of cream soda. The finish displays some managed dusty tannins that build-up and linger for a while. This red blend is food friendly and easy drinking. It would pair well with many dishes. We would pair it with a French dip sandwich or a steakhouse burger. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Sourced from premier California winegrowing regions, Conundrum Red features dark red varietals including Petite Sirah, Zinfandel, and Cabernet Sauvignon. It is serious yet lighthearted, complex, and approachable. With lavish flavors of cherries and baking chocolate, this wine has granular tannins that provide a smooth and grippy character. Be daring and drink slightly chilled to enhance the fruit profile and enjoy any time of year.
