Wine Review: This cloudy and dark ruby colored red blend from California was very well received by all those that tried it. It opens with a brambly boysenberry bouquet with a hint of red raspberry. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced and round. The flavor profile is a ripe mulberry and blueberry blend with notes of plum and oak. We also detected hints of minerality throughout. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins stick around for a bit. This is a good value red that over-delivers given its price point. The group thought it would pair nicely with Kobe sliders with a dollop of Peter Luger old fashioned sauce. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Sourced from premier California winegrowing regions, Conundrum Red features dark red varietals including Petite Sirah, Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon. With a deep, inky hue almost as dark as blackberries, this wine opens on the nose with scents of chocolatey coffee, sweet oak, fresh plums, floral blossoms and the earthiness of a forest floor. The palate starts off soft, then turns grippy. It peaks with a combination of fruit and textural tannins, before being dominated by the character of ripe berries and plums. As the finish tapers off with the taste of blackberries, spicy notes add complexity.
