Wine Review: This opaque and pitch black colored Spanish red opens with a ripe black cherry bouquet with a hint of red raspberry. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, very nicely balanced and smooth. The flavor profile is a very tasty black cherry with nicely integrated cedar and minerality. I also detected hints plum as well. The finish is dry and its refined tannins and flavors drift away nicely. This is a terrific Old World styled wine that would pair perfectly with a spicy shrimp paella. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Alenza (from "ALEjandro" and "esperaNZA" Alejandro's devoted wife) is produced only in the riper vintages, from the last grapes harvested. A whole bunch fermentation of the very ripe Tempranillo bunches is followed by malolactic fermentation and 30 months’ aging in new American and French oak barriques. In technique and style, a wine recalling the noble efforts of decades and centuries past, conceived by a master for many fruitful years in the cellar.
