Wine Review: This slightly opaque Carmenere from Concha y Toro is always very good. It opens with a hot asphalt, smoke, and black currant like bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, well balanced and fruit forward. The flavor profile is an extracted blackberry with notes of black pepper and black currant. I also detected a hint of smoky old oak and black olive. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins are sticky and linger for quite some time. This wine has a rustic charm to it which makes it ideal to pair with beef bourguignon. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Color: Dark, deep red with violet hues. Bouquet: Complex and elegant notes of ripe red berries, plum, spice and tobacco. Taste: Powerful and concentrated fruit flavors reappear on the palate caressed in sweet tannins. Full in the mouth with great structure and a lingering finish. Enjoy the distinctive taste of Terrunyo Carmenere with tomato based pasta, game, duck, red meat and robust cheeses.
