Wine Review: This dark red colored wine from the commune of Morgon Côte du Py opens with a turned earth, ripe red raspberry, and pomegranate bouquet with hints of green olive and clove. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round and rustic. The flavor profile is a loamy and black plum blend with notes of pomegranate and black tea. I also detected hints of red raspberry and green olives. The finish is dry, and its moderate dusty tannins linger for a bit and then drift away nicely. I would pair this Beaujolais with lamb stew. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Morgon has always been the speciality of the Piron family. This cuvee comes from the heart of the appellation, from the famous Côte du Py, a hill of eruptive origin, remarkable for its blue stones, giving spicy wines with morello cherry accents. Morgon is particularly appreciated with grilled red meats or grey meats such as duck or pigeon.
