Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Gamay from the Morgon commune opens with a potting soil and black raspberry blend with notes of pomegranate and violets. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round and bright. The flavor profile is a loam, cranberry, and spiced red plum blend with notes of black tea, black raspberry, and stony minerality. I also detected a hint of green olive and dried herbs. The finish is rather dry, and its flavors and moderate tannins linger and last for a while. We would pair this wine with a roasted pork loin and mushrooms in a red wine sauce. Enjoy – Ken, Karen & Stuart
Winemaker Notes: Very nice vintage. The wines are concentrated and harmonious between color, body, roundness and aromas of ripe red fruits. This Morgon is powerful, spicy, with aromas and flavors of cherries, morello cherries and cranberries. It offers an aging potential from 5 to 10 years. Morgon is particularly appreciated with grilled red meats, grey meats such as duck or pigeon, or goat cheese.
