Wine Review: This pitch black colored Cabernet Sauvignon from the Stags Leap District opens with a black currant and black licorice bouquet and hint of clove and mint. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, fruit forward and chewy. The flavor profile is a ripe black cherry and black licorice blend with notes of oak and clove. I also detected a hint of cinnamon and black pepper towards the end. The finish is dry and its dusty tannins and flavors stick around for quite some time. I would recommend decanting it in the near term as it opens up quite a bit and smooths out on day 2. I would suggest serving it with a well-marbled ribeye in the near term, but if you decant it for a few hours or cellar it, it would be nice with a filet. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Deep purple red. Aromas of black currant, black cherry along with hints of toffee, floral, and vanilla. This wine is silky smooth, full-bodied with a deeply structured backbone of lush tannins and a long bright finish.
