Wine Review: This dark ruby Pinot from Oregon opens with an inviting black cherry and sassafras like bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, very smooth and silky. The flavor profile is a very tasty ripe black raspberry with nicely integrated gentle oak. I also detected a hint of boysenberry and plum. The finish is dry and its fine tannins and gentle fruit drift away nicely. This elegant styled Pinot is very food friendly and would pair well with many foods. I would choose cherry amaretto chicken. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Although we had a cooler year in 2010, with red wines showing lighter color intensities, almost tawny, that doesn't mean the fruit, balance, and structure are anything short of ideal. Asian spice and fruit is ample, as well as cola, fresh raspberry, dusty black cherry, plum pie, cedar, morels, hints of earth, and a balanced barrel component. We think this wine is a classic example of elegance, showing finesse and texture over size, with velour-like tannins, a supple silky finish, and impeccable balance.
