Wine Review: This very dark red colored Gamay from the Fleurie commune in Beaujolais opens with a strawberry and cinnamon stick bouquet with hints of black plum and violets. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with plus acidity. The mouthfeel is bright, mouthwatering, and juicy. The flavor profile is a macerated black cherry and candied violets blend with notes of black raspberry and loam. I also detected hints of old oak and red currant. The finish is dry, and its flavors and mild tannins fade away nicely. I would pair this Fleurie with a grilled salmon burger. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: This wine is a classic expression of Fleurie. It is a beautiful deep cherry color with aromas of roses and peonies that are supported by strawberry and damp earth nuances. The texture is rich, delicate, and smooth with a very long finish. Ideal for both fine and casual cuisines, anything from grilled meats or stews to barbecue.
