Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Beaujolais from the Côte du Py portion of the Morgon commune opens with a fragrant black raspberry and black cherry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round and voluptuous. The rich flavor profile features a black raspberry and juicy black plum blend with notes of graphite and loam. I also detected hints of oak and licorice. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins build-up for a little while. I would decant this hearty Beaujolais in the near term and pair it with grilled duck breast. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The interesting aspect of Côte du PY originates from the blue rock which is richer than its neighbor planted on granite. It shows rich aromas of white pepper and blackberry together with full body. Its complexity will enhance a wide range of delicate dishes. The wine needs two or three years to reach its harmony and can then age comfortably for several decades.
