Wine Review: This medium purple colored Merlot based wine Troplong-Mondot is Excellent. It opens with a fruitcake and red currant bouquet with hints of wet stone, orange peel, and truffle. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is initially bright and fresh. With time it rounds out and becomes very nicely balanced. The flavor profile is crushed stone minerality and black currant blend with notes of spiced red plum, tart red cherry, and oolong tea. We also detected hints of mocha towards the end. The finish is dry, and its rather dusty tannins linger and last for quite a while. The Tasting Panel would pair this impressive wine with Capital Grille's bone-in Kona crusted dry-aged NY strip steak or with a sesame encrusted ahi tuna steak. Enjoy – KWGTP
