Wine Review: This midnight black colored Merlot based wine from Chateau Pipeau in Saint Emilion opens with a black currant and espresso bouquet with hints of oak. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with integrated medium acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, round, smooth and approachable. The flavor profile is black cherry and oak blend with notes of stone dust and cassis. I also detected some hints of black tea. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and gentle dusty tannins linger nicely. I would pair this Saint Emilion with a filet mignon. Enjoy - Ken
