Wine Review: This Excellent light straw colored Chardonnay from Napa opens with a fragrant tangerine bouquet with hints of Bosc pear. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, displays terrific balance, and nicely coats your mouth. The flavor profile is a delicious mild lemon verbena with nicely integrated new oak. I also detected notes of Bosc pear. The finish is dry and its flavors fade away nicely. This Chard would pair perfectly with roasted garlic chicken. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Nose: In the glass, the aromatics lean toward the floral and citrus families with rose petals, lemon blossom, and just a hint of ripe melon sneaking through. Palate: While the palate is opulent, full of lemon meringue, peach pie, and ripe strawberry, the vibrancy of the acidity reliably lays the foundation for food pairing and aging for many years to come. Finish: In classic Montelena fashion, the minerality steps into the spotlight on the finish, coupled with just enough orange zest, and the lingering richness of creme brulee.
