Wine Review: This inky purple colored Cabernet Sauvignon based Bordeaux wine opens with a wild blueberry, pencil lead and potpourri sachets bouquet. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with integrated plus acidity. The mouthfeel is super smooth, graceful, and extremely well-balanced. The flavor profile is gentle blackberry and black currant blend with notes of graphite and oak. We also detected hints of blueberry, acai berry, oolong tea and stone dust in the mix. The finish is dry and its refined tannins build-up and go on and on for a very long time. The Tasting Panel would decant this wine for a while in the near term and serve it with well-marbled ribeye. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: The 2018 vintage of Léoville Poyferré has a deep garnet color with purple highlights. Beautifully shiny and limpid, this wine displays a youthful color. Juicy, generous aromas of red and black fruits burst from the glass, accompanied by notes of oak and plenty of freshness. On the palate, the wine takes on a lot of breadth while retaining its juicy character. Suave, aromatic notes of black fruits and oak persist. The tannins are still quite present and will develop a lovely patina with a little aging. The powerful, dense finish lingers on and on. 2018 is an exceptional vintage and affirms its immense aging potential.
