Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Merlot based wine from Chateau Grand Ormeau in Lalande de Pomerol opens with a black cherry and flint stone bouquet with hints of leather. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with integrated medium acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round and savory. The flavor profile is cedar influenced black cherry with notes of green tea and stony minerality. I also detected hints of clove and red licorice. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and gentle tannins drift away nicely. I would pair this Merlot with a beef bourguignon. Enjoy - Ken
