Wine Review: This slightly opaque and deep ruby colored Merlot based Bordeaux wine opens with a fragrant new leather, cedar, and black cherry bouquet with hints of blackberry and cassis. Decanting will blow off its early barnyard aromas. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with moderate acidity. The mouthfeel is soft, silky smooth, approachable, and very well-balanced. The flavor profile is cedar influenced red currant and black plum blend with notes of black cherry and black licorice. We also detected hints of oolong tea, dried rosemary, and stone dust towards the very end. The finish is dry, and its well-managed refined tannins are nicely extended. The Tasting Panel would pair this Old World styled wine with pork chops with a cherry pan sauce, a pot roast, or with a rack of lamb. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Beychevelle 2018 can be characterized by two words: Harmony and concentration. This vintage presents a balance rarely achieved at this stage. A bouquet of well-ripened red and black fruit invites us to sample the intense, harmonious palate. Very silky tannins accompanied by fruit bursting with freshness and concentration. 2018 will join the list of Château Beychevelle's truly exceptional vintages.
