Wine Review: This dark garnet colored Cabernet Franc based blend from Chappellet opens with a black currant and black raspberry bouquet with hints of loam, blueberry, and pencil shavings. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, very smooth, and zesty. The flavor profile is a red currant and blackberry blend with notes of cedar, black tea, and cedar. We also detected hints of red plum, black licorice, and crushed stone in the aftertaste. This is a pretty complex wine. The finish is dry, and its well-managed moderate dusty tannins linger nicely. The Tasting Panel would pair this Cab Franc with a filet mignon or duck confit. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Both elegant and intense, this wine showcases Cabernet Franc’s natural complexity with effusive aromas of red currant, blueberry, black tea, mountain sage and roasted coffee, as well as hints of cedar and cigar wrapper. On the plush palate, flavors of wild berry, anise, and white pepper, are underscored by a silky texture and seamless tannins, with a note of earthy richness adding sophistication to a long, beautifully balanced finish.
