Wine Review: I really enjoyed this golden straw colored Estate grown Chardonnay from Chamisal! It opens with an inviting floral bouquet that includes hints of roses with butter and toasted coconut. This full bodied Chardonnay is crisp, smooth, complex and mouthwatering on the palate. I noted apricots, pears, apples, coconuts, hints of oak and butter and a lively acidity to balance it all out. This Edna Valley Chardonnay has a lot of character and displays a smooth pleasurable toasted oak finish that is refreshing and extended. If not drinking this excellent Chard on its own, I would recommend pairing it with butternut squash ravioli with a sage cream sauce. - Joe
Winemaker Notes: Our 2014 Chardonnay presents effusive aromas of ripe pluot, Asian pear and baked Meyer lemon, combined with intense white florals and pineapple. The palate is full and bright, teeming with luscious lemon crème brulee, candied apricot and vanilla spice, with crisp acidity, golden apple and nutmeg on the lengthy finish.
