Wine Review: This pale yellow colored Pinot Blanc from Chalone is very good. It opens with a mild green apple bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced and easy to enjoy. The flavor profile is a tasty pear and light oak blend with hints of minerality, light lemon and almond. The finish is dry and flavors drift away nicely. This wine will be liked by many. Especially Chard fans. I would pair it with chicken and wild mushroom ravioli in a light cream sauce. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Intriguing minerality draws you into our 2013 Estate Pinot Blanc, as does its full body and unctuous silky texture. Filled with pear, honeysuckle and almond notes, this beautifully balanced, dry wine neatly ties up all the elements on the long finish. “In addition to the wet stone minerality, I find a fresh note that brings memories of my grandmother’s linens drying in the sun,” says Winemaker Robert Cook. Play with pairings for this wine. My favorites include butternut squash ravioli with Marsala cream sauce or spice-rubbed pork loin.
