Wine Review: This dark red colored wine opens with an attractive red currant and red cherry bouquet with hints of tobacco and oak. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, juicy and shows pleasant elevated acidity. The flavor profile is a tasty maraschino cherry and ripe plum blend with very nicely integrated old oak and a hint of red grape juice. The finish is rather dry and its fruit flavors and dusty oak tannins linger and last for a long time. This wine would pair nicely barbecue steak tips. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: The 2008 Barbaresco Asij presents a very classic expression of the austerity and nobility of the Nebbiolo grape. Its ruby red color suggests that this young wine is just at the beginning of its evolution, an impression confirmed by the dominant fruit sensations, particularly red fruits, accompanied by hints of spice and wood. In the mouth, the wine opens with a fresh acidity and slight tannic astringency, but its elegant and powerful character comes through, concluding in a round finish and seemingly infinite persistency.
