Wine Review: This midnight purple colored Petite Sirah from Caymus-Suisan opens with a mulberry and Good and Plenty bouquet with hints of oak, clove, and gentle light rum. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, smooth, and savory. The flavor profile is an extracted mulberry and sarsaparilla soda blend with notes cedar and dark chocolate. We also detected some hints of mushrooms, black pepper, graphite, and clove. The finish is dry, and its very bold and dusty tannins build-up and stick around for a very very long time. The Tasting Panel would decant this Petite Sirah for at least an hour before pairing it with a well-marbled ribeye or with a Chateaubriand with sauteed mushrooms. Enjoy – KWGTP

May 2023 - This midnight purple colored Petite Sirah from Caymus-Suisun is drinking very well right now. It opens with a violet and graphite bouquet with hints of black plum and black licorice. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with medium acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced. very smooth, viscous, and supple. The flavor profile is a tasty marionberry and cocoa blend with notes of graphite. We also detected some hints of black currant and blueberry. The finish is dry and its well-managed integrated tannins drift away nicely. The Tasting Panel would pair this Petite Sirah with a prime rib or teriyaki steak tips in the near term for maximum enjoyment. Enjoy – KWGTP (93)
