Wine Review: This inky and midnight purple colored Durif aka Petite Sirah opens with an inviting Good and Plenty bouquet with a hint of cola. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced, smooth and thick. It nicely coats your mouth. The flavor profile is a tasty milk chocolate with notes of black licorice and blackberry. We also detected a hint of black pepper mixed in. The finish has well-managed moderate tannins that drift away nicely. The group thought this was a nice fireplace wine that would pair well with sharp cheddar cheese. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: A velvety purple with ruby-red highlights, the 2016 vintage of Grand Durif features an abundant nose of dark plums and baked blueberries, woven with scents of lavender, white rose petals, sweet smoke and brown spice. Entry on the palate is smooth, yielding to a pop of rich, luxurious tannins that then sneak back, revealing lush fruit flavors of dark berry cobbler. The finish is long, with warm, supple, evocative notes unsweetened cocoa.
