Wine Review: This very dark ruby colored Super Tuscan styled wine from Napa Valley is very good and was well received by our tasting group. It opens with a ripe black raspberry bouquet with a hint of coffee. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced and quite savory. The flavor profile is a tasty black raspberry with notes of black cherry and blueberry. I also detected hints of oak and black tea. The finish is dry and its flavors and medium tannins linger for a little while. This wine is food friendly and would pair well with grilled steak tips. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Dark stone fruit, spices, red cherries, and floral notes are supported by silky, polished tannins. La Castellana is a harmonious blend that strikes a balance between power and elegance. Patience will be rewarded as La Castellana slowly reveals her secrets over the years. This elegant "Super Tuscan" wine goes well with lamb, sausage, grilled steak, Venison or a great pasta dish such as Pappardelle with wild boar (Dario's favorite).
