Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Zinfandel opens with a mulberry and cinnamon bouquet with hints of red raspberry. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is bright and savory. The flavor profile is a concentrated and fruit forward black raspberry and stewed plum blend with notes of black pepper and black licorice. I also detected hints of cinnamon and clove. This finish is dry, and its flavors and dusty tannins linger and last for a very long time. This Zin was liked by the group that tried it. It would pair well with a messy rack of ribs. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: We christened the Monga Zin® as we stumbled while saying its appellation too many times, probably after having too much of this HUMONGOUS mouthful of fruit and rich milk chocolate. Deep black cherry fruit, dried cranberry, orange zest, berry patch in the sun! Dusty vanilla-caramel oak, graham crackers, and cocoa. Fragrant Moroccan-Asian spices—Chinese 5-spice mélange… Mouthfeel is creamy yet tangy bright cherry, firm-sturdy tannins and a long, lush finish. Super concentrated. Quite drinkable now, but will age a good 15-20 years. Very mouth filling!
