Wine Review: This pale ruby colored “Old Vine” Zinfandel from Carol Shelton opens with a fragrant strawberry and blackberry bouquet with a hint of moist pipe tobacco. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium acidity. The mouthfeel is round, balanced, and juicy. The flavor profile is a spiced red plum with notes of wild strawberry, stony minerality and oak. I also detected hints of blueberry. The finish is dry, and its fruit flavors, acidity and moderate tannins are nicely extended. This versatile and food friendly Zin really over-delivers. I would pair it with steak frites or crispy pork carnitas (Mexican slow cooked pulled pork) Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Aromas of black cherry, ripe plum and raspberry fruit combine with a hint of cigar box, and vanilla-oak baking spice loveliness. Smoothly textured in mouth, and the palate is very creamy and round, with a finish that is long with lush jammy fruit.
