Wine Review: This dark red colored Zinfandel from Carol Shelton is very good and was well liked by all those that tried it. It opens with a craisin and oak bouquet with a hint of pomegranate. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, slightly acidic and mouthwatering with no real edges. The flavor profile is oak influenced red plum with notes of raspberry and blueberry. I also detected a hint of caramel and black pepper. The finish is dry and its flavors, acidity and mild tannins drift away nicely. This went perfectly with my filet mignon at Cobblestones in Zionsville. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Deep black cherry fruit, dried cranberry, orange zest, berry patch in the sun! Dusty vanilla-caramel oak, graham crackers, and cocoa. Fragrant Moroccan-Asian spices - Chinese 5-spice melange. Mouthfeel is creamy yet tangy bright cherry, firm-sturdy tannins and a long, lush finish. Super concentrated. Quite drinkable now but will age a good 15-20 years. Very mouth-filling!
