Wine Review: A fruit and wood-forward Rioja that straddles the line of traditional and modern. Rich and robust upfront but with secondary flavors making a strong entrance on the mid-palate. The flavors include black tea, bacon, and cooking spices. The finish has some acidity and offers a medium-length. Although the flavors are plenty and diverse, this wine still seems linear. This would pair well with grilled duck. – Nicolay
Winemaker Notes: Cherry red color with a thin brick-red edge showing its longer barrel age. Aromas of ripe blue and black fruits, toffee and balsamic as well as some mineral notes. The silky mouthfeel is combined with fresh acidity. This wine is a perfect match for any grilled meats, stews or a charcuterie with stronger cheeses.
