Wine Review: This slightly opaque and very dark ruby colored Cabernet Sauvignon from Red Mountain opens with fragrant red currant and cherry-cola bouquet with hints of red licorice and pomegranate. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied, super smooth and fruit forward. The flavor profile is a juicy red plum and cola blend with notes of red currant and cocoa. I also detected hints of red licorice and cinnamon Red Hots in the after taste. The finish is dry and its flavors and moderate tannins linger and last for a while. This Cab would be perfect with a grilled hanger steak. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: An aromatic powerhouse, the 2017 Grand Passage is effusive with black fruit and brambly wild berry aromas, with notions of bay leaf, juniper and olive adding nuance and complexity. A flood of juicy dark fruit saturates the palate, while expanding tannins create a richly layered texture. Brooding and resonant, with flavors of huckleberry, cassis, juniper and nutmeg, this stunning wine possesses a classic Old-World structure, draped with New-World ripeness and intensity.
