Wine Review: This rustic Italian Montepulciano is a clear, deep red color, which has aromas of saddle leather, black cherry, blood orange, dried oregano, hyacinth, and a touch of wood smoke. Medium bodied on the palate, it is dry, balanced, smooth, moderately acidic and a bit angular. I detected flavors of brambly black raspberry, oak and marionberry, with hints of stony minerality, dark chocolate, and black cherry. There are fine grained tannins and a dry, long finish. Serve this food friendly and very good value Montepulciano with a warm bowl of tagliatelle alla bolognese. - Mark
